from December 2010

(June though September Tue-Fri 10am-9pm, Sat-Sun 10am-11pm)

The Accademia Carrara, Bergamo's main art collection, was established at the end of the 18th century by count Giacomo Carrara. It includes masterpieces by Pisanello, Botticelli, Giovanni Bellini, Mantegna, Raffaello, Moroni, Baschenis, Fra' Galgario, Tiepolo and Canaletto.
.:. Although the Accademia is closed for restorations, some of its most outstanding paintings can be seen in a medieval building on the main square of the Città Alta (the magnificent Upper Town, on a hill surrounded by Venetian walls). Refined exhibition settings by world-famous architect Mario Botta add to the Old Masters' cocktail mix.
.:. Another exhibition in Bergamo is currently showing how the Carrara will look like, whien it reopens.
