The 63 works by Alberto Giacometti (1901-1966) currently exhibited at the Villa Reale are almost invariably on loan from the Parisian Foundation bearing his name. The sculptor, painter, draughtsman and printmaker from Graubünden, in fact, spent many years in Paris, in his atelier in Rue Hippolyte-Maindron.
.:. By no means the exhibition is a great retrospective. Rather, it's one of the regular events managed by the Giacometti Foundation after it received a bequest from the artist's widow, Annette: about 5,000 works..
.:. Having clarified this, the point is that Giacometti's works are always to be visited, whenever they're available.
