Via Mercanti
On the Via Mercanti side of the Palazzo della Ragione, between the second and the third arches of the portico, is the bas-relief of a sow half-covered with wool.
This is a tribute to one of the legendary interpretations of the origin of the name Milano - in Latin 'Medio'-'lanum', that is 'half-woolen'.
