Chiara Camoni. Chiamare a raduno
February 15 through July 21, 2024
one picture only
.:. Flowers, masks of sisters, carts set as furnishings, artfully arranged marble scraps and fabrics coloured by plants make the world of an artist who lives in the middle of the Apuan Alps. The full title of the exhibition is almost a nursery rhyme: Call and gather. Sisters. Moths and flame twisters. Lioness bones, snakes and stones.
.:. The lionesses-sphinxes that welcome visitors really hide traces of fossil bones. Serpentesses are made of bowls linked like pearls in a necklace. The marbles are effectively recovered from the quarries around Seravezza: Camoni would never think of having them cut on purpose. Indeed, she is worried about how industrial quarries are eating up the Apuans.
.:. Everything is very delicate yet very determined, magical but not unscientific, both artisanal and professional. Thanks, Hangar, for this call to gather - or "chiamare a raduno".
