Una Lady Macbeth del distretto di Mcensk

The Scala Orchestra and Chorus conducted by Riccardo Chailly (pictured) open the 2025-2026 Opera season performing Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District by Dmitry Shostakovich, on a libretto by Aleksandr Prejs and Shostakovich based on the novella of the same name by Nikolaj Leskov, a new production by La Scala. Performances through January December 30. Staging by Vasily Barkhatov, sets by Zinovy Margolin, costumes by Olga Shaishmelashvili, and lights by Alexander Sivaev. Sara Jakubiak sings as Katerina L’vovna Izmajlova.
