Agosto
August 1st through 31, 2025
August is the month when most of the Milanese go on holiday. Signs saying
Chiuso per Ferie, closed for vacation, are posted almost everywhere, and things to do and see in town are few and far between. Assorted open-air spots – the
Sforza Castle among them – provide backdrops for concerts and
performances.
.:. The city is even more deserted around August 15, called
Ferragosto. These are days when even the diehards surrender and abandon Milan.
.:. Some notable exceptions. Through August, visitors enjoy nearly every day the
Triennale (where entrance is
free any day of August, after choosing your day), the
Brera Art Gallery, the
Poldi Pezzoli museum (closed on August 15 only), the
Gallerie d'Italia near the Duomo, and – though currently with no big exhibitions on – the exclusive fascination of the
Fondazione Prada.
