.:. art / heart of darkness
Bill Viola
February 24 through June 25, 2023
Artworks exhibited in darkness may lead us to introspection. Movies seen in darkness make us live in someone else's story.
.:. Works by Bill Viola (New York, NY, 1951) flashing in darkness compel us to deal with carefully designed and technically perfect scenes, where people (performers) move slowly, sadly, are hit by accidents, or tortured. They are digital works, of course.
.:. There is another work by Viola in the church of San Marco, in the Brera district. Find it (free of charge) in the chapel to the right of the high altar. It's not necessarily on duty, however.
