.:. art / the body is yours
September 15, 2022 through February 26, 2023
Thu-Sun 10:30am-8:30pm
On entering the Hangar's main hall (pictured), you might think it's just an exhibition of wooden paneling. Walk through the
corridors, however - those wide enough to welcome a human body - and you're likely to change your mind. Neons are very different from
Flavin's, passages make you feel that indeed the body is yours, and rooms host big
videos where the artist's workshop is alive. You're not hurt. You're accompanied as if you were friends.
.:. Nauman (Fort Wayne, Indiana, 1941) is considered among the best living artists.
.:. The exhibitions shows artworks from the 1960s to the 2020s. It was organized in collaboration with the Tate Modern in London and the Stedelijk in Amsterdam, which hosted it before. Totally new, however, is the way the final
sound gallery is set outdoors. Nauman proves to be totally extraordinary not simply as far as neons, corridors and rooms are concerned.
