An exhibition of color woodcuts and books created by the major artists of the ukiyo-e (浮世 絵, "pictures of the floating world") in Edo period celebrates a century and a half from the first diplomatic treaty between Italy and Japan. Thanks to the City of Milan and the publisher Skira, two hundred prints from the 18th through 19th centuries are on loan from the Honolulu Academy of Arts.
.:. They are stereotypical pop-art, after all, but extremely refined.
