At the 5th edition of Documenta -- a leading exhibition of modern and contemporary art which takes place every five years in Kassel, Germany -- the artist, Edward Kienholz (Fairfield, WA, 1927-1994) exhibited an extremely explicit set of works, dealing with sexual and racial violence in the United States. It was 1972.
.:. Five Car Stud couldn't be seen again till 2012, when it was introduced again to the general public at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Denmark. Now the set belongs to the Fondazione Prada, and can be seen in Milan.
.:. Visiting Five Car Stud is a moving experience. Not necessarily every white man feels completely guilty. Just a bit, however, he does.
