The Scala Orchestra and Choir conducted by Riccardo Chailly open the 2016-2017 Opera season performing Madama Butterfly by Giacomo Puccini, a new production of La Scala based on the first historic performance of the piece, here at the Scala in 1904. Performances through January 8, 2017. Staging by Alvis Hermanis, sets by Hermanis and Leila Fteita, costumes by Kristine Jurjāne, lights by Gleb Filshtinsky, videos by Ineta Sipunova, choreografic movements by Alla Sigalova, and dramaturgy by Olivier Lexa.
