Though born in Sicily, and maintaining all the cultural depth of his native island, artist and writer Emilio Isgrò (Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto, 1937) has undisputably become a Milanese since the late 1950s. The time has now come for his adoptive home to hold a series of three exhibitions, which - beyond the Royal Palace - involve the Gallerie d'Italia aside the Scala theater (Piazza della Scala 6) and, just 'round the corner (Via Gerolamo Morone 1), the Manzoni house museum where the 19th-century writer Alessandro Manzoni, himself a Milanese and a milestone in the development of Italian as a national language, used to live.
.:. Isgrò is well known for his use of the erasure technique in his art works. What's even more intriguing, he has become one of those rare artists who have accepted to be celebrated while still alive, with no damage to his reputation.
