August is the month when most of the Milanese go on holiday. Signs saying Chiuso per Ferie, closed for vacation, are posted almost everywhere and things to do and see in town are few and far between. Assorted open-air spots - the Sforza Castle among them - provide backdrops for a few concerts and performances, and the Expo is a must-see.
