.:. discover / the only signature left
May 19 through October 30, 2015
Mon-Thu 11am-5:30pm; Fri and Sat 11am-1:30pm
The keeper of the one and only signature by Leonardo da Vinci ever known so far, the State Archive of Milano is currently exhibiting it, along with a few other original 15th- and 16th-centuries documents related to the genius. You can visit them, as long as the Expo 2015 is open, in the new exhibition rooms of the Archive, recently restored at the piano nobile of the 17th-century building.
.:. Leonardo was officially listed among the engineers and architects operating in the Duchy of Milan around the year 1500, and signed in person the contract for the Virgin of the Rocks on April 25, 1483. He did so by writing lower case letters, and exceptionally from left to right - not in the 'mirror writing' he always used for his notes.
.:. Thanks to BASF, on Saturdays June 27 and July 18 the exhibition is open - and free - also from 4pm to 7pm.
