slideshow .:. Like 18th-century Prague, ancient Greek towns were literally populated by statues, parallel to live inhabitants. Sculpted masterworks (Classics, as the exhibition's title explains) were very frequently copied, according to normalized (Serial) procedures.
.:. Very few metal statues from ancient Greece have survived, the famous Riace bronzes being an outstanding exception. Slightly more numerous are marble Roman copies, made in later times. All this sculpted population is now the focus of a rigorous display - that Prada has commissioned to illustrious curators - yet so lively, that a bunch of contemporary copies is shown painted in bright colors, one of them even golden.
.:. The Fondazione Prada's new buildings are currently hosting more exhibitions, encompassing contemporary art (the private Prada collection included) and cinema (Roman Polansky). Same ticket, same pleasure.
