The city where the Sforzas called him, and where he left the
Last Supper, celebrates da Vinci with an exhibition that may not be particularly glamorous but is absolutely smart. On the occasion of the Expo 2015, curators Pietro Marani and Maria Teresa Fiorio invented for Skira a route that retraces the way the Renaissance genius thought, the
world where he worked, and the
diversity of his approach.
.:. Not an easily enjoyable exhibition, it has to be studied and meditated rather than being photographed with smartphones. Inevitably, due to the fragile materials, you visit almost in the dark. But the works on loan are definitely outstanding - including some Lippis, a bunch of Verrocchios and one
Antonello da Messina - and your patience is very well rewarded.
