.:. festivals / are democrats back?
August 29 through September 15, 2014
whole day; events from 6pm
For the Milanese left, the good ol' Festa dell'Unità of September was the first social gathering after the summer (congregate, come across friends, tell about past holidays...) Those days have long gone - since the beginning of the third millennium... - but might be coming back now, as the
Democratic Party's festival has been entitled again to the Communist daily newspaper which was originally established by Antonio Gramsci in 1924.
.:. For those who still believe in a center-left party in Italy, the
Festa is an opportunity to prove that they are alive and kickin' in Milan. (By the way, they are
currently ruling the city, and even have a fondamental role in the national government.) For the general public, anyway, the
Festa is simply a long series of concerts, debates, book presentations, opportunities to dine out and shop.
.:. The whole
program (in Italian only) can be found at the local
Partito Democratico website.
