Milan is no exception: here too January (and February as well) is time for sales. The research (struggle?) of good and cheaper stuff starts early, on the first Saturday of January. If you're looking forward to a shop-till-you-drop session, remember that changing rope is your right... but keep the receipt!
.:. The best area, and obviously still the most expensive, is Monte Napoleone. In the main shopping areas, such as Corso Vittorio Emanuele and Corso Buenos Aires, temporary shops are increasing and a try maybe worthwhile.
